Subject: Pink Tulips
I want to share with you how God is so sweet in times of Turmoil.
As you know, the past couple of days I have been sad and weepy over our
situation with my Mom's cancer (as I well expect from time to
time)...and I have been crying out top God for His comfort.
On my way home every day, I drive down Lover's Lane and recently a new
flower shop has been opening. Every day I am drawn to this store and
think how extraordinary it is. Everything looks so happy and colorful
but I don't stop...I'm too sad. Yesterday, my Mom was going down the
same road and she too was drawn to the shop. She stopped in to buy one
small bouquet of pink tulips. (I had mentioned the cart they had
outside days before.) That day, however, their truck had not come in
and the owner came over and said...,"I have a delivery coming in a bit
later...I will bring them to your house." My Mom was embarrassed with
her small purchase and replied, "I only want a small bunch of pink
tulips, I will come back..." but the tall blonde man with a thick Dutch
accent insisted.
When I got home, still feeling blue after passing the flower shop and
seeing no tulips outside, my Mom said, "I have a surprise...In a few
minutes the man from the flower shop is bringing us some flowers to our
house!" I was shocked! Sure enough, in a few minutes a big panel truck
with CEBOLLA FINE FLOWERS painted on the side pulled up to the front of
our little house. Out strode the tall blonde shop owner carrying one
perfect bunch of pink tulips. As I stood in front of him amazed he
said..."you will never forget these tulips, they are like no other!
Delivered direct from the grower their perfect tight buds will grow
another inch before they open into pretty pink blossoms...they will last
for weeks!" His thick Dutch accent filled the air and his kindness and
care warmed my heart.
Yes, I will remember these exquisite flowers for a long time, but
forever I will remember his exquisite kindness and God's gracious gift
of sending His people to comfort me. God will always send pink tulips,
kind words from a friend, beautiful sunsets. He knows every desire of
our heart. Remember when you are pulled to do something kind for
someone you never know the impact of your small act...Jesus said in
Matthew 25:40..."I tell you the truth, whatever you did for the least of
these brothers of mine, you did for me."
Thank you for being my friend!
