Petal Pushers
By Ellise Pierce
Remember the simple, elegant floral designs of Jamie and Luit Huizenga, the couple who first brought the European flower market to town in the late '80s with Dr. Delphinium Designs? The pair, who sold Dr. Delphinium in 1998, opened a new flower emporium in early spring under the moniker Cebolla Fine Flowers (named for the Cebolla River that runs through their Colorado ranch). Jamie's signature style is compact and European, yet comes off as bold, much as a well-dressed woman exudes confidence without much fuss. Pushed into one of Cebolla's hand-fired, rustic pots (in colors from bisque to eggplant), the flowers - from peonies to the occasional wisp of Queen Anne's lace - couldn't be happier.
