Lovers/Inwood business center offers wide array of shops
By Anne Buckley
The shops along Lovers Lane, between Douglas Avenue and Inwood road, have been a neighborhood shopping destination for the Park Cities, Preston Hollow and North Dallas for more than 40 years. Luit and Jamie Huizenga, of Cebolla Fine Flowers at 4320 Lovers Lane and Douglas, feature European style design in their floral creations. The founders of Dr. Delphinium, they are back in town, offering custom pottery with the Cebolla trademark to customers for use in their designs. Made for them in the Czech Republic, these special containers help create the "European look" that is the trademark of their work.
"We specialize in marketing orchid plants from across the world, fresh flowers that we buy direct from the grower and 24 roses for $25," Jamie Huizenga said. "We keep special varieties that add interest in arrangements. We also collect vintage pottery that we use in our design work and have a range of antique furniture and French soap, plus other gift items."
There also are containers of glass, antique pots from Morocco and heavily colored cases from Italy. Cebolla has mini arrangements as well as other design creations available daily. Yes, Jamie Huizenga knows that "cebolla" means onion in Spanish; their favorite Colorado retreat is on the Cebolla River and it became the inspiration for the shop's name.
